UFC 192: Cormier vs. Gustafsson Gate and Attendance Hit New Lows for Houston

UFC Fight Night 104: Attendance and Gate Numbers From Houston

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to Houston, Texas, for the first time in two years on Saturday night for UFC 192: Cormier vs. Gustafsson.

The Toyota Center was less than capacity with an audience of 14,626, according to Dave Sholler, UFC Vice President of Public Relations. It was the lowest attendance for a UFC event in the promotion's four trips to Houston. The crowd accounted for a live gate of $1,859,000, which marked the first time the UFC recorded less than a $2 million gate at the Toyota Center.

It wasn't for a lack of effort, however, as the main event between light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and Alexander Gustafsson was an all-out war. Cormier came out of the fight with a ton of respect for Gustafsson, but also with the belt still wrapped around his waist.

Ryan Bader stated his case for a shot at Cormier by defeating former champ Rashad Evans, but the shadow of stripped champion Jon Jones still looms large, as he could be returning at any time.
