UFC 187 Fighter Bonuses: Arlovski vs. Browne Slugfest Leads Post-Fight Awards

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned home to Las Vegas on Saturday night for UFC 187: Johnson vs. Cormier at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The fighters on the pay-per-view main card swarmed the post-fight bonuses, each of the award winners taking home an additional $50,000.

There were few surprises, particularly in the Fight of the Night category, where Andrei Arlovski and Travis Browne took the honor.

Arlovski immediately took the fight to Browne, rocking him with numerous punch combinations, sending him stumbling across the cage. Browne somehow dug deep and landed a punch that sent Arlovski down briefly, but then Arlovski rebounded to lay another flurry punches on Browne until the referee stopped the fight.

A former UFC heavyweight champion, Arlovski got the victory and continued his climb into title contention, but each man got a bonus check.

The two Performance of the Night bonuses went to the two men that also walked out of the Octagon with championship belts.

Chris Weidman kept his professional record unblemished, securing the twelfth victory of his career by weathering an early storm from Vitor Belfort before taking him down and finishing him in a flurry of punches.

In the night’s main event, Daniel Cormier also fought his way through early adversity to overwhelm Anthony Johnson and wear him down en route to a third-round submission victory. Aside from the bonus, Cormier became the UFC’s first new light heavyweight champion since 2011.
