Yahoo Sports Two new stores at Gulfport Outlets sell women’s fashions and overstock merchandise
A national clothing store with sizes of petite to plus and a local overstock store just opened at Gulfport Premium Outlets to offer something different for shoppers.
New York-based Daily Thread women’s clothing store has 101 locations open and 300 more coming across the United States by the end of the year.
The store in Gulfport is in Suite 125, near Nautica and Under Armour outlets in the first row of buildings.
The store will bring shoppers in with affordable prices, extended sizes from petite to missy and plus, and boutique-style customer service, the company said in a press release.
“You won’t find our level of customer service anywhere else in specialty retail,” said Carmen Wamre, president of Daily Thread.
Big box products at overstock price
The new Bloomingdeals overstock store at Gulfport Premium Outlets is next to The Children’s Place and between Gap Factory Outlet and Coach.
The merchandise is all new and comes from Amazon, Target, Walmart, JCPenney and other national retailers, said Brad Hold, executive director of Mississippi Gulf Coast Youth for Christ.
The store is stocked with electric scooters, drones, toys, clothing, new mattresses, housewares and other products, he said — and are priced at 50% to 70% off what shoppers would pay if they purchased them from the big box stores.
Lights, faucets and other home construction supplies typically are priced 60% to 70% off, he said.
Auction House has more deals
Bloomindeals is one of three stores in Gulfport operated by Youth for Christ.
The group’s Auction House at 333 Pass Road opens at 5:30 p.m. every Friday to view the items like video doorbells and other electronics and household products that will go to the highest bidder when the auction starts at 6:30 p.m., Holt said.
The auctioneer sells new, overstock and return items from Amazon, Walmart, Lowe’s and other major retailers along with some antiques. The building is air conditioned and heated and the cafe sells burgers and snacks.
Adjacent to the Auction House is the Thrift Mart at 345 Pass Road, where items are 50% and more off the original price and where donated items are accepted.
The local Youth for Christ also operates a teen center in downtown Gulfport at 1501 24th Ave., and Holt said the proceeds from the three stores will help expand that program.
“We’re trying to raise money to build a new teen center,” he said, complete with laser tag and a go-kart track to provide a safe place for the kids and to grow the ministry.
