Twitter rings in 2018 with some hilarious reactions

The world welcomed in 2018 with open arms, and if you were on Twitter during the holiday, to hilarious effect. The internet had some witty reactions to ringing in the new year.

Many people like to take advantage of a clean slate when the clock strikes midnight. Who doesn’t want a fresh start? These Twitter users sure do!

Of course, many of us overindulged during the holiday season — did someone say wine? But for some people, the new year is a great time to press the reset button on health. Some Twitter users were excited about the challenge, and others may need a little more motivation.

With the turn of the calendar, some states enacted brand-new laws that got the internet buzzing with excitement. California residents were especially excited over marijuana, which is now legal for recreational purposes.

Washington also had working families excited. Starting Jan. 1, the state became the seventh in the union, including Washington, D.C., to require employers to provide paid sick leave to their employees. In addition, 18 states, including Washington, will see their minimum wage increase in 2018. Residents were overjoyed with the new changes.

It’s safe to say the consensus on kicking off 2018 was pretty darn good. Just ask these Twitter users:
