Twitter reacts to Coyotes acquiring Taylor Hall from Devils
The New Jersey Devils have dealt former Hart Trophy winner Taylor Hall to the Arizona Coyotes.
Before you ask, no, this wasn’t a one-for-one transaction.
The trade is not one for one. https://t.co/GtP3uLbeL8

Far from it, actually. The Devils got quite the haul in return for Hall and 22-year-old forward Blake Speers which included the Coyotes’ first-round pick in 2020 (top-three protected), a conditional third-round pick in 2021 and prospects Kevin Bahl, Nate Schnarr and Nick Merkley. New Jersey will also have to pay for half of Hall’s salary.
Although hockey and Devils fans aren’t Adam-Larsson-for-Taylor-Hall mad, they don’t seem to be overly pleased about the return for their star forward.
Who knows how the prospects turn out but it really seems like Ray Shero dropped the Bahl on this one.

The Devils really traded an MVP for a dude with 3 goals in 25 AHL games, some magic beans, a mid first and another pick with two conditions on it pic.twitter.com/Nqzv5JnLHm

Trading Taylor Hall for a first-round pick that’s lottery protected seems counter-productive.

But, there are some others that are looking at the bright side.
So Adam Larsson and Blake Speers for
Merkley, Kevin Bahl, Nate Schnarr, 2020 1st round pick, Conditional 2021 3rd round pick (can become a 1st or 2nd).

Fans of the Pacific Division-leading Coyotes, on the other hand, seem unanimously in favour of their team’s general manager — John Chayka — adding the former league MVP to the team.
2 potential prospects that could crack the Yotes lineup in another 2-3 years and 1 that won’t. Conditional picks. For Taylor Hall? My goodness. Chayka for President.

Well done Chayka!! Did not disrupt our current roster or our top prospects. https://t.co/oGbkWRexm4

I really can't believe John Chayka managed to get Taylor Hall without giving up either of his elite goalie tandem (Kuemper/Raanta) OR top goalie prospect Ivan Prosvetov, considering the Devils' need for a goaltender.
Absolute masterclass by Chayka. Here comes ARZ.— Alex Ohári 🇭🇺🔴⚪️ (@FutureCanes) December 16, 2019
In the span of seven months, John Coyotes GM John Chayka traded for both Phil Kessel and Taylor Hall to add to a young core with OEL, Clayton Keller, Nick Schmaltz and Jacob Chychrun.
Heck of a job. #Yotes— Rob Taub (@RTaub_) December 16, 2019
Coyotes GM JOHN Chayka is one of the best young GMs in all of sports & with him at the helm the Coyotes will become a contender... The trade for Taylor Hall is a huge acquisition for this organization. 🏒🏒🏒

It’ll be interesting to see how Hall and Phil Kessel react when they see each other considering Kessel has thrown unprovoked shade at his new teammate in the past.
well this is ironic pic.twitter.com/gc5Ys4Xmrt

Not to beat a dead horse or anything, but if there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that three-and-a-half years removed from the original Hall trade, the Edmonton Oilers’ return continues to look even worse.
The Devils are going to get a better return for renting out three months of a late-twenties Taylor Hall than the Oilers did for a 24-year-old Taylor Hall with four years of team control.

Imagine trading Hall for more than one player. Crazy. Could you get this for Larsson? #AskChia btw, this trade now theoretically hurts the Oilers more/again, because Arizona is now Pacific favorites. Pretty cool. https://t.co/gFylQLN95y

The Oilers play Taylor Hall on January 18, prepare your DVRs Oilers Twitter.

Dear New Jersey Devils fans,
I know it's sad this whole Taylor Hall thing. BUT...
You did get 76-132-208 in 211 games and a league MVP.
You're also getting a king's ransom to add to Jack Hughes and others.
And all it cost you was Adam Larsson. You will be ok.
Sincerely, Mark— Mark Scheig (@markscheig) December 14, 2019
