Twitter reacts to the Maple Leafs re-signing William Nylander
The wait is over, Maple Leaf fans. You can safely turn off the Twitter notifications for your favourite hockey experts if you want.
William Nylander will officially play for the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 2018-19 season, after signing a 6-year contract that carries an annual average of $6.9 million. The star forward is ‘going home.’

It certainly did not get done the easy way, but the team and Nylander were able to get a deal done while using nearly every last second they had to do so.
This left Twitter with lots of time to get the creative juices flowing and come up with some pretty amazing reactions when the news was finally announced.
We start off with our favourite insider, Ryan from Columbus. From the moment Ryan met and snapped a photo with the Leafs GM Kyle Dubas, he has had the inside scoop on this story, and moments after the agreement was announced you can bet the Toronto executive got back to Ryan.
Never in doubt, Ry.

Bold move by the Leafs GM but we are certainly here for his unprecedented use of Twitter. Now that the negotiations are over, he can officially celebrate.

But back to William Nylander for a second. After all, he was the one who held out until nearly the last possible moment. That can all be put to the side though, because to the delight of Maple Leaf fans, he ain’t leaving.

My sources tell me Nylander was busy the last few months planning the @MapleLeafs parade route, not holding out. pic.twitter.com/BZgup5kqK0

So now that the #NylanderWatch saga has come to a close, you may be wondering: What are Leaf fans going to talk about now? If you were worried that they would no longer have anything to discuss, fear not, they have already moved on to the next thing.
Ok #LeafsNation. Willy is officially back. Gimme your line combos. I like:
Kapanen Matthews Nylander
Marleau Tavares Marner
Hyman Kadri Brown
Johnsson Lindholm EnnisStraight up offence top 6
3rd line would be hell to play against #Leafs #LeafsForever— Daver 16 (@Daver_16) December 1, 2018
So Nylander got what he wanted and Leafs got the AAV down under 7 for the years that matter, that’s a win/win. Easy to trade after the bonus this summer too if the cap crunch is crazy.
