TUF 23 Finale Medical Suspensions: Three Fighters Potentially Face Lengthy Time Off

Women's straaweight champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk retained her title at The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale on July 8, defeating rival Claudia Gadelha by unanimous decision in the fight card's main event. In the loss, Gadelha suffered a thumb injury that could keep her sidelined for six months.

On Tuesday, the Nevada State Athletic Commission released the medical suspensions stemming from the event, which took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Three fighters are looking at potentially lengthy suspensions.

The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale Medical Suspensions:

– Claudia Gadelha: must have right thumb x-rayed and cleared by doctor or suspended until 1/05/17 with a minimum suspension until 8/23/16 with no contact for 30 days

– Andrew Sanchez: suspended until 8/23/16 with no contact for 30 days

– Thiago Tavares: suspended until 9/07/17 with no contact until 8/23/16

– Andrew Holbrook: suspended until 8/23/16 with no contact for 30 days

– Fernando Bruno: must have MRI or x-ray of left knee and cleared by doctor or suspended until 1/05/17 with minimum suspension until 09/07/16 with no contact until 8/23/16

– Josh Stansbury: suspended until 8/23/16 with no contact for 30 days due to scalp laceration

– Cory Hendricks: suspended until 8/23/16 with no contact for 30 days due to laceration on bridge of nose

– Cezar Ferreira: must have left foot x-ray to rule out fracture, or suspended until 1/05/17 with minimum suspension until 08/23/16 with no contact for 30 days.

– Jake Matthews: suspended until 8/08/16 with no contact until 7/30/16

-Anton Zafir: suspended until 8/23/16 with no contact for 30 days
