Chelsea's rising star Ike Ugbo was on target as defending champions England opened their Toulon Tournament campaign with a 1-0 win over Angola.

Ugbo headed in the winner just after half-time to send the holders top of Group A in France.

England won the tournament under Gareth Southgate last year but the squad is a mix of ages this term with the Under-20 World Cup currently under way in South Korea and the Under-21 squad preparing for Euro 2017.

England Under-18s boss Neil Dewsnip is in charge and watched as striker Ugbo, who helped Chelsea win the FA Youth Cup this season, grabbed the winner a minute after the break.

England also face Cuba on Thursday and Japan on Sunday. The pair drew 1-1 in the opening game on Monday.

London-born Ugbo, 18, hit 20 goals in 32 appearances for Chelsea's Under-23s this season to help land a Premier League 2 and FA Youth Cup Double.
