Blue Jays prospect Luis Quinones suspended 80 games for positive PED test

Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospect Luis Quinones has been handed an 80-game suspension by the MLB which will kick-in at the start of the 2020 season.

He tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug called Nandrolone.

The Blue Jays selected Quinones in the 34th round of the 2019 MLB Draft. Prior to being drafted, he played for San Jacinto College in Texas.

The 22-year-old right-hander has split time this season with the Bluefield Blue Jays of the Rookie Appalachian League, and the Vancouver Canadians of Class-A Short Season. Between the two clubs, he has posted an earned-run average of 2.95, and a WHIP of 0.982 across 36.2 innings.

Additionally, he recorded 57 strikeouts in that span.
