Top Boy's Saffron Hocking is the latest celeb to try the breastplate trend and we want in

There's no denying breastplates have been slowly growing in popularity. After both Zendaya and Gwyneth Paltrow wore the same Tom Ford molded, mock-neck, metallic pink piece at the beginning of 2020 (Zendaya to the Critics’ Choice Awards, Gwyneth on the cover of Harper BAZAAR’s February issue), the micro-trend has been popping up on more and more celebs.

Kim Kardashian, Julia Fox, Cardi B, Olivia Wilde, and Zendaya again have all repped the trend. And more recently, Sydney Sweeney sported an ab-baring silver style at GQ's 2022 Men of the Year Awards last November, followed by Rihanna when she iconically performed at this year's Super Bowl halftime show wearing a red sculpted bustier while pregnant.

Now, Saffron Hocking is the latest star to sport a breastplate when she stepped out at the Royal Television Society Programme Awards in London last night wearing a custom-made corset. (Side note: Billie Piper was also in attendance at the RTS awards rocking a different but equally cool trend – cut outs.)

The corset in question was custom-made for the actress by London designer Cameron Hancock, the same man responsible for Ellie Goulding's black, backless, full-bodice wet look style she wore to the 2023 Brits. Saffron's breastplate was similarly backless, tying around her back, and had the look of matte molten metal. The sculptural top looked more like a piece of art than an item of clothing and we're *obsessed*.

She paired the corset with a Camilla and Marc maxi skirt that had a thigh-high slit up one side and Gianvito Rossi silver sandals that tied at the ankle, referencing back to both the colour and construction of the breastplate with her accessories. Otiumberg earrings completed the look.

The Top Boy star had been nominated for her role in the Netflix show, and her stylist, Aimee Croysdill, posted a behind-the-scenes video of Saffron's 'fit ahead of her arrival at the awards do. Trust us when we say you'll want an up-close look at the breastplate, so check out the video below:

If Saffron's latest red carpet appearance is anything to go by, we can't wait to see what she wears next.
