Liam McNeeley, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound senior-to-be from Montverde (Florida) Academy and the Florida Rebels AAU basketball program, on Saturday cut his list of prospective colleges to six. They are: Kansas, Alabama, Indiana, Michigan, Oklahoma and Texas.

McNeeley, a native of Richardson, Texas, on Saturday announced his list via a Tipton Edits graphic on Twitter. McNeeley is ranked No. 7 in the class of 2024 by Rivals.com, No. 8 by ESPN.com and No. 13 by 247Sports.com.

Earlier he also considered Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Iowa and others.

McNeeley — he has made official visits to Texas and Indiana — is averaging 15.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game for the Rebels on the Nike EYBL Circuit.

Asked what he’s looking for in a college, McNeeley told thedailyhoosier.com: “An NBA style that’s going to show my NBA ability to the scouts and eventually get me to the league.”

Of KU, he told On3.com: “I talk with coach Roberts (Norm, KU assistant) all the time. He sends me texts once every day or two days, so we keep in regular touch.”

Rob Cassidy of Rivals.com wrote of McNeeley in May: “McNeeley’s recruitment has long felt like a Texas-vs-Indiana tilt and it continues to have that feel he heads into the final stretch. The Hoosiers seem to have built a slight lead during the period of uncertainty in Austin, but that gap may be closing. For now, IU still feels like the team to beat, ... but nothing is even close to set in stone when it comes to the five-star’s college decision.”
