Here are 10 takeaways on the top 10:

1. The Streak: The Red Wings managed to extend their NHL playoff streak to 25 consecutive seasons, but added only one more win after bowing out in five games against Tampa Bay in the first round. Detroit has been eliminated in the first round four times in the past five years.

2. Desperately seeking Stanley: The Sharks have earned the third-most playof wins since 2000, but the Cup remains ever elusive. At least they're getting closer, with their 2-1 series lead on St. Louis representing the first time San Jose has been ahead in the Western Conference final in four appearances.

3. Devils' advocate: Considering New Jersey has missed the playoffs five times in the past six years, it's pretty impressive the Devils have racked up the fourth-most playoff wins in the league since 2000. Their total is bolstered by Stanley Cup championship runs in 2000 and 2003 as well as making it to the Cup final in 2001 and 2012.

4. Blackhawks down: With three Stanley Cups and two conference finals in the previous seven postseasons, it's somewhat surprising that Chicago sits fifth in playoff wins since 2000. But when you remember the Blackhawks made the playoffs just once from 2000 through 2008 -- and that was a hasty five-game exit in 2002 -- it makes a little more sense.

5. Broad Street bullied: Philadelphia ranks highly (seventh overall with 72 playoff wins since 2000) despite missing the postseason twice in the past four years. More to the point for Flyers fans, the team is trending in the wrong direction as it seeks its first Stanley Cup since 1975.

6. L.A. story: They've won two Stanley Cups in the last four four years, but the Kings couldn't crack the top 10. Los Angeles is 11th overall with 56 playoff wins since 2000.

7. Hurricanes warning: Carolina is the only other team besides L.A. to have won the Stanley Cup since 2000 but failed to crack the top 10 in playoff wins in that time. It's easy to see why: the 'Canes have missed the postseason for seven straight years and qualified only four times in total since 2000. But when they get in, they do some damage. Carolina won the Cup in 2006, made it to the final in 2002 and made it to the Eastern Conference final in 2009 (the last time they played in the postseason).

8. No Canada: Fans north of the 49th parrallel will notice that not a single Canadian team ranks among the top 10. Here's how Canada's NHL clubs have fared since 2000: Ottawa, 53 playoff wins (13th overall); Vancouver, 47 playoff wins (15th); Montreal, 46 playoff wins (16th); Toronto, 35 playoff wins (20th); Calgary, 30 playoff wins (22nd); Edmonton, 20 playoff wins (25th); Winnipeg, 0 playoff wins (30th).

9. Where's Washington? The perpetually on-the-cusp Capitals have earned 45 playoff wins since 2000, which ranks 17th in the NHL. Washington hasn't advanced beyond the second round since their one and only appearance in the Cup final in 1998. (They lost.)

10. Got the Blues: Just like Washington, St. Louis has been knocking on the door for a while but haven't been able to acheive a Stanley Cup breakthrough. To change that this season, they'll need to turn things around in a hurry against San Jose in the West final. The Blues have amassed 40 playoff wins since 2000, good for 18th overall in the league.
