Top 10 Featherweight Nik Lentz Moves Up to 155 to Fight Danny Castillo

Despite being ranked at No. 10 in the featherweight division, Nik Lentz is returning to 155 pounds to fight Danny Castillo at UFC on FOX 17 on Dec. 19 in Orlando, Fla. UFC officials announced the bout late Tuesday.

Lentz (25-7-2, 1 NC) has been moderately successful during his six-fight run at 145 pounds. He won his first three bouts at featherweight, but losses to Chad Mendes and Charles Oliveira sandwiched his most recent victory over Manny Gamburyan.

As such, Lentz is ready to move back to lightweight.

Castillo (17-9) has been a staple at 155 pound for Zuffa, the UFC's parent company, dating back to 2008, when he fought under the WEC umbrella.

He's had stretches where it appeared he was ready for a title run, but coming into the bout with Lentz, Castillo is in the midst of the worst stretch of his career. He lost his last three consecutive fights and four out of his last five. Lentz may be moving up a weight class, but Castillo needs a win more than ever right now.

The bout will fill one of the undercard slots of UFC on FOX 17, which is headlined by a lightweight title fight between current champion Rafael dos Anjos and challenger Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.
