Yahoo Sports Tony Ferguson's wife files restraining order after multiple domestic disturbances
A restraining order has been filed against UFC fighter Tony Ferguson by his wife, according MMAJunkie.com.
Ferguson’s wife put in the order Wednesday. The specific details of her allegations against Ferguson were not made available. The issue will be investigated by the court’s domestic violence prevention services project in March. A domestic violence hearing has been schedule in April.
The order comes after police have been called to the Ferguson residence a number of times over the past year or so. MMAJunkie.com was able to obtain five police incident reports, which detail erratic behavior from Ferguson.
On Feb. 19, police conducted a welfare check on Tony Ferguson after he made unknown threats, and his wife and son left their house, according to a separate police report. Police spoke to an unidentified female who stated Tony Ferguson had “not slept for three days and was tearing apart the home” and “broke apart the fire place and believed someone placed a (computer) chip in his leg.” An unidentified male who’d called the police said the fighter had told him “someone was inside his walls.”
A few days earlier, Ferguson was advised to see a doctor by a police officer. It was determined he was not a danger to himself or others. Officers still recommended Ferguson’s wife and child stay elsewhere until she felt safe.
The 35-year-old Ferguson hasn’t appeared in UFC since last October, when he beat Anthony Pettis at UFC 229. Dana White addressed Ferguson’s recent absence from the sport Wednesday, saying Ferguson has been “dealing with a lot of personal issues right now.”
