The Toledo Walleye lead the ECHL right now with 49 points, and on Saturday night they will host the Brampton Beast, who are not far behind them in the overall league standings.

With that heavyweight battle about to go down, the Walleye will be in fighting mode and try and channel the spirit of an underdog boxer from Philly who rose through the ranks in the 1970s.

That’s right, for “Rocky Tribute Night,” the Walleye will resemble the legendary “Italian Stallion” with this amazing look complete with championship belt, American flag shorts Balboa wore for his fight against Drago and socks that resemble boxing boots.

As with many of these specialty jersey nights, they will be auctioned off post-game along with hockey pants with proceeds benefiting Heroes in Action, International Boxing Club of Toledo and the Walleye Wishing Well.

Hopefully in honor of Rocky’s late pal, Apollo Creed, the Walleye enter the ice with “Living in America” blasting through the arena PA system.
