Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley has virtually no deficiencies on the field. He’s fast. He’s powerful. And he’s an excellent receiver.

Off the field, though, Gurley has a at least one controversial opinion that may shake you to your core. Turns out, Gurley actually hates dogs.

Gurley told Sam Alipour of ESPN that he’s not a fan of canines, but before you start to think he hates all animals, that’s not the case.

“And I hate dogs. I love cats, though. Cats are so cool. Actually, I’m probably gonna get some this year.”

This is devastating, obviously, though Gurley is handling things pretty well on Twitter. He’s apologizing to dogs who were not happy to hear the news.

There is a saving grace. You know how Gurley mentioned being into cats? He’s ready to really go all in on cats, according to ESPN.

Sorry, you’re gonna get a bunch of cats?
Two, at least, so they can, you know, conversate or whatever. I mean, how would I feel if I was a cat and someone bought me and just left me by myself for like 20 years?
So, you’re the Crazy Cat Lady.
Yeah, I’ll be Cat Dude.

And with that, we have a feeling Gurley just created a new nickname for himself. Expect to see some “Cat Dude” signs and costumes at Rams games this season. It remains to be seen whether that’s a good thing.
