Tim Tebow hits first Triple-A home run after rough start to season

Tim Tebow’s Triple-A career got off to a rough start this year.

The ex-NFL quarterback hit just .131 through his first 26 games of the season for the Syracuse Mets, and was on pace for the worst hitting percentage that Triple-A baseball has seen in the past decade.

It seems on Sunday, though, things finally took a turn.

Tebow drilled a shot over the right field wall in the third inning on Sunday afternoon in the Mets’ game against the Columbus Clippers, marking his first-career Triple-A home run.

When he returned to the dugout, his teammates hilariously gave him the traditional silent treatment, too.

Tebow’s home run was then immediately followed by another from David Thompson, bringing the Mets back within just two runs after giving up four in the second inning.

To make the day even more memorable, Tebow accomplished the feat while wearing a PAW Patrol-inspired uniform — as the Mets were, for some reason, honoring the Nickelodeon children’s show.

Those two solo shots, however, marked the Mets’ only runs of the day. They fell to the Clippers 8-2, marking their second loss in three days.

While Tebow still has a long way to go to earn an MLB call-up, which he said was his goal heading into the season, notching his first career home run is a solid place to start.
