TikTokers couldn’t believe this woman tapes her mouth when she sleeps: ‘I’d have a panic attack trying to sleep with all that’

A large chunk of Americans don’t get enough sleep every night, and one woman on TikTok is here to give her hack to getting better sleep: Taping your mouth at night.

Hannah Chody (@hannahchody) posted an entire video showing her followers her extensive sleep routine.

“This is so specific but life changing sleep is important what can i say,” Chody wrote in the caption of her post.

In the video, she shows a sound machine and mouth tape. Then she explains her different pillows and the specific sleep mask she uses.

“My husband says I look like someone being held hostage when I sleep,” she said. “Fair, but it’s the best sleep ever.”

After showing every part of her setup, Chody put everything in action to demonstrate how she looks getting her great sleep.

However, viewers couldn’t get past the fact that she tapes her mouth every night, which became a dominating topic in the comments.

“I’d have a panic attack trying to sleep with all that,” replied @gababyd03.

“Even watching other people put on mouth tape makes me feel like I’m suffocating,” replied @therealmelindastrauss.

In September 2022, In The Know by Yahoo’s Jeanine Edwards chronicled the rise of mouth tape on TikTok as users began turning to it for sleep.

According to bannerhealth.com, mouth tape encourages breathing through your nose, which helps filter out allergens from the air.

Still, the concept seemed foreign to many of Chody’s viewers. However, other parts of her sleep routine were quickly embraced, with many people saying they would try out Chody’s sleeping hacks.
