There’s no beauty emergency worse than getting a haircut only to realize you hate it after you’ve made the big chop.

Decode and demystify Gen Z's latest online slang terms with In The Know's new glossary.

It’s not like there’s an easy way to figure out whether you prefer long hair or a shorter cut without committing to the look first. But one TikToker thinks she has a solid method to predict if you should rock a pixie cut or embrace your inner Rapunzel.

Here are the products you need to protect your skin this summer!

Influencer @bondenavant has 1.3 million followers. She vlogs about skin care and hair hacks. The TikToker recently went viral thanks to an interesting trick to figure out your ideal hair length. All it requires is two pencils and a ruler.

“Here’s a really easy way to know if short hair will look good on you,” @bondenavant said. “It explains why my sister looks so much better with short hair.”

Here’s how to use the technique she describes in the video:

1. Place one pencil underneath your chin.

2. Place the second pencil at the base of your ear so that it’s perpendicular to the first.

3. Mark where the second pencil hits the first pencil.

4. Measure the distance between the mark and the end of the pencil at the base of your ear.

“If the distance is greater than 2 1/4 inches, then longer hair looks good on you,” @bondenavant said. “If it’s shorter than 2 1/4 inches, then short hair will look good on you.”

“The angle and length of your jaw is everything,” she added in the comment section.

The video went viral with 6.6 million views, but not everyone was buying the hack. Some people were skeptical of the method and wondered what the basis for it was.

One person asked, “Where are you getting these numbers from?”

Others enthusiastically shared their measurements while one user joked, “trigonometry finally coming [in] use.”
