Three Takeaways From Bruins' Atrocious 8-2 Loss To Hurricanes

Here are three takeaways from the Bruins' terrible showing now.

Jeremy Swayman Struggles Big Time

It was a very tough night for Jeremy Swayman, as the 25-year-old goalie was pulled after allowing six goals on 21 shots. While he was not the only reason for this loss, there is no question that he played a role in it.

Swayman's start to the season has not been the best, but this was easily his worst appearance of the campaign. The Bruins desperately need him to bounce back in his next start.

Bruins' Offense Completely Shut Down

While the Bruins managed to score two goals in this matchup, their offense was shut down by the Hurricanes. They ended the night with only 16 shots because the Hurricanes' defense handled them with flying colors.

The Bruins were once again not dangerous in the offensive zone, even with the big line changes made by head coach Jim Montgomery. This trend is immensely concerning.

Bruins' Penalty Kill Once Again Has Bad Night

The Bruins penalty kill also had a rough night, as they allowed three shorthanded goals to the Hurricanes. This is the third time this season where the Bruins have allowed at least three shorthanded goals. This was only their 11th game of the season.

The Bruins are not going to win games if they continue to give up goals on the penalty kill. The Hurricanes took advantage of them and gave them their ugliest loss of the season in the process.
