As you are undoubtedly aware by now, England are out of Euro 2016 thanks to yet another feckless performance on the big stage. In other news, grass is green and water is wet.

The Three Lions seem to go into every tournament they enter promising so much, yet delivering so little. Ultimately, the person who takes responsibility is the one man who isn’t on the field – the manager – while the players skulk off to a warm beach somewhere for a few weeks before returning to the comfort, adoration and remuneration of their respective clubs.
