The Sixers should probably help Joel Embiid when he jumps into the stands

Philadelphia 76ers rookie Joel Embiid has been one of the great joys of this young NBA season. Although the No. 3 pick in the 2014 draft remains on a minutes limit, Embiid has been the Sixers’ best player when he sees the court and looks like a potential superstar. The one worry is that his past severe foot injuries will return and derail a career that holds so much potential. As good as Embiid is, he’s arguably the most fragile player in the NBA.

The Sixers franchise is well aware of the risk every time Embiid takes the floor. So it would probably be a good idea if their players tried to catch him when he jumps into the stands for a loose ball:

Embiid suffered no injury on the play, but it’s still a good idea to assist him — or any teammate — when he’s at his most vulnerable. Unfortunately, Embiid and the Sixers needed help all over the place in Monday’s 115-88 loss to the Houston Rockets. Embiid shared the team-high in scoring with 13 points and chipped in 10 rebounds, although he also committed six turnovers and five fouls in just 23 minutes.

James Harden’s night was not so difficult. The Rockets star continued his blistering start to 2016-17 with 23 points in the first quarter and finished with 33 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds in 33 minutes.

The Sixers will have another opportunity to catch Embiid on Wednesday when they host the Washington Wizards.
