The Cubs were so bad in Game 1 that Cleveland police are worried

The Chicago Cubs turned in a disappointing performance during their 6-0 loss to the Cleveland Indians in Game 1 of the World Series. Corey Kluber and the Indians’ big, bad bullpen completely dominated Chicago’s bats, giving up just seven hits over nine shutout innings.

While that would normally be good news to the people of Cleveland, one local group seemed a bit concerned about the Cubs’ offensive struggles in Game 1.

Yikes! That’s cold. The Cubs’ bats no-showed so hard that the Cleveland police department tweeted that they filed a missing persons report for them. Ouch!

That one probably stings, but there is a silver lining for Cubs’ fans. Sure, the team didn’t look great offensively, but they also went up against Kluber, Andrew Miller and Cody Allen. That trio has been a murderer’s row for Cleveland this postseason. No one has hit them.

For what it’s worth, Cubs manager Joe Maddon didn’t seem too concerned about the team’s performance at the plate. He admitted it wasn’t ideal, but he liked what he saw.

It’s also worth noting that the Cubs experienced similar concerns early in the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. After being shut out in Game 2 and Game 3, many wondered if the Cubs’ offense could recover. The team erupted for 23 runs over their next three games.

So, be careful, Cleveland police. The last time people questioned the Cubs’ offense, they awoke a sleeping giant. Before you know it, some baseballs will be calling in to file a restraining order against Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant.
