The position of enterprise architect has been revealed as the best job in the UK for 2020.
The role tops the list of the 25 best jobs in the UK compiled by jobs website Glassdoor, which looked at salary, the number of job openings available, and job satisfaction to create the annual ranking.
This is the first time enterprise architect has entered the list and it is also the first tech role to be ranked at number one. It also has the highest median salary on the list at £75,209 ($97,593).
An enterprise architect is responsible for ensuring that a company's business strategy uses proper technology systems architecture to achieve its goals.

Product manager comes in at number two on the list, followed by operations manager, business development manager, and DevOps engineer.
Five of the top 25 are technology-based and four are finance-related. However, there are a wide variety of job fields in the ranking, ranging from sales, marketing, HR, and recruitment, to engineering.
There are 11 new positions in this year’s list, including DevOps engineer at number five, customer success manager at number 12, and tax manager at number 16.
Some of last year’s best ranking jobs fell out of this year’s list completely including audit manager, which was 2019’s number one job, and marketing manager which was at number three.
Data scientist was the number one job in the US from 2016 to 2019, falling to third place in 2020, compared with its sixth position in the UK.

Every job on the list provides a median salary above the national average wage. The role of corporate recruiter has the highest job satisfaction of the top 25 and software engineer has the most open jobs in the UK, with over 6,000 positions available.
