Texas A&M offensive tackle Koda Martin said Thursday night that he was transferring from the school.

Martin was hospitalized earlier this spring after suffering heatstroke. According to his father, an assistant coach at Syracuse, Martin’s organs had begun to shut down and he suffered kidney failure because he was so overheated. He spent three days in intensive care.

Martin is going to go play for his dad as well. He’s transferring to Syracuse after getting his degree in May. As a graduate transfer he’ll be immediately eligible in 2018.

Kirk Martin is the QBs coach for Syracuse. And he isn’t only family connection at Syracuse. Koda’s wife Jazzmin is the daughter of Syracuse head coach Dino Babers.

Koda Martin was expected to be a starter along Texas A&M’s offensive line after making 10 starts in 2017.
