Team USA's swimmers just finished their jam-packed 2024 Olympic Games with a little more hardware.

Bobby Finke earned Team USA's only men's individual gold in the 1500-meter freestyle on Sunday, Aug. 4, and set an impressive world record in the process. He came ahead of Italy and Ireland to maintain his status as the reigning 1500-meter champion after first winning gold in Tokyo 2020.

Team USA also earned medals in both the men's and women's 4x100-meter medley relay to end the night in Paris.

First, in a narrow race for the gold against China, the U.S. men ultimately finished second with a time 3:28.01. The Chinese swimmers were only .55 seconds ahead of the Americans — Ryan Murphy, Caeleb Dressel, Nic Fink and Hunter Armstrong — with Team France close behind in third.

When the women took to the pool to close out the night, they, like Finke, also set a world record. Regan Smith, Lilly King, Gretchen Walsh and Torri Huske earned a gold medal with a time of 3:49.63.

It was a comeback of sorts, as the women were silver in the 4x100-meter medley relay in Tokyo.

Overall, the U.S. swim team's total medal tally from these Games is 28 — with eight of those medals being first-place finishes.
