While TCU was playing Oklahoma State on Saturday, safety Caylin Moore was in Los Angeles being named a Rhodes Scholar, one of 32 recipients across the United States.

Moore will study at Oxford University next fall, where he will complete his graduate studies in Public Policy and Business Administration

Chancellor Victor Boschini also issued a statement congratulating Moore on his achievement.

It is official; Caylin Moore is a 2017 Rhodes Scholar. He joins an elite group of TCU students with this recognition and a current class of 32 men and women across the United States who exemplify similar intellect, character, leadership and commitment to service. As a Rhodes Scholar, Caylin will have the opportunity to study at Oxford University next fall, where he will complete his graduate studies in Public Policy and Business Administration.

Caylin also was offered the Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowship.

Congratulations, Caylin; we could not be more proud to call you a Horned Frog, and we look forward to witnessing the significant and positive contributions you will make.

Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr.

Moore’s road to a Rhodes Scholarship has been an inspiring one. He was homeless during his youth. His father is in prison for life and his mother is a survivor of domestic abuse and sexual assault. He started his collegiate career at Marist where he worked as a janitor to survive financially. He transferred to TCU prior to the 2015 season, but has not played for the Horned Frogs.

Moore was recently named to the 25th-Anniversary Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, and he was a finalist for the 2016 Big 12 Conference Sportsperson of the Year.
