TCU fans: ‘We’re small, but we’re mighty. Don’t doubt us’ ahead of season opener

Following last season’s national championship title game appearance, TCU fans were more excited than ever for the start of this year’s college football season and believe the Horned Frogs can finish what they started last year.

“We expect to win the whole thing,” said Cassie Fothergill, “We have big expectations of all our returning guys and our newcomers.”

Fothergill is a TCU alum and the parent of Grace Fothergill, a senior TCU Showgirl, and was ecstatic that Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff was starting its college football season in Fort Worth.

“We’re so proud that the press is coming to see all the things that we know that are true which is it’s a great school and a great program,” said Fothergill, “ We want them to know we have the No. 1 fans and the No. 1 showgirls.”

Fothergill wasn’t the only proud parent cheering on a child.

Ashanti Roberts and Lejeune Roberts were tailgating before the game at a tent dedicated to their son, Channing Canada, a sophomore cornerback for TCU.

“We’re here to support our son Channing Canada along with his squad and the TCU family,” said Ashanti Roberts.

Canada was the No. 1 JUCO cornerback in the nation and transferred to TCU after last season. The Roberts were excited that their son’s first TCU game would be in primetime.

“We think it’s great, we think it’s well deserved as well, just considering the fabulous season TCU came off of,” said Ahsanti Roberts.

“We’re here to support the team, more specifically our son, this is his first Big Noon Kickoff game and we’re here to rally in his corner with family and friends to show our support, love and dedication to our kids,” said Lejeune Roberts

The Roberts were impressed with TCU’s pre-game atmosphere and said they plan to attend every TCU game this season.

“Very welcoming and family-like which is representative of TCU,” said Ashanti Roberts.

“It’s live, we’re excited, we’re tailgating,” said Lejeune Roberts, “Look this the first of many, We’re gonna be out here every time they play at home and away.”

Devin Sullivan is a 2019 TCU grad who made a statement with his tailgate’s name, all steak no sizzle.

“We’re going all in this year, we’re coming back after losing to Georgia and we’re just gonna kick a** this season,” said Sullivan.

Sullivan said despite TCU’s size they can still hang with the big school college football powerhouses.

“We’re a pretty small school and we’re keeping up with schools like Texas and Oklahoma, we’re small but we’re mighty don’t doubt us.

Sullivan said TCU earned the Big Noon Kickoff game to start the season and he’s ready to watch them face off with Colorado.

“We deserve it after our awesome year last year,” said Sullivan, “It’s the first game we have to show up and just keep on winning.”
