To say Taylor Swift loves an Easter egg would be an understatement. Those cryptic, hidden clues are basically part of her brand DNA, and she doesn't just sprinkle references and clues into her music videos and performances — she also incorporates them into her wardrobe. For the Super Bowl 2024, Swift paid homage to her boyfriend Travis Kelce with a handful of strategic "87" accessories in honor of his jersey number. How many exactly? Let's count 'em!

Before the Super Bowl even took place, fans were speculating what Swift would wear to the big game as soon as the Kansas City Chiefs secured a spot in the finals as, for most of the season, she's been experimenting with vintage Chiefs gear, custom jackets, and even matching looks.

When it came time for the Super Bowl, Swift opted for $695 black jeans with crystal-embellished cutouts from Area, a corset top, and her ever-present red lipstick. Though it was the obvious choice, she only wore a red Chiefs jacket from the Wear by Erin Andrews line over her all-black 'fit briefly.

Back to the Kelce tributes. Despite neglecting the red clothes, Swift's accessories did the talking, namely the "87" pendant necklace from Stephanie Gottlieb, which retails for $4,250 and comes in white or yellow gold with small diamonds.

Swift also stashed her lipstick in a sparkling football-shaped Judith Leiber clutch, also with Kelce's number on it, which was reportedly a gift from basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal. The brand posted a close-up of the custom football-shaped creations for Swift — one in white and one in red — to its Instagram page, with the caption: “Making the whole stadium shimmer 🏈✨," in reference to her song “Bejeweled.”

The 87s did not stop there either. Swift also slipped on a pair of black suede Christian Louboutin boots with a red and gold "87" patch on the side, which eagle-eyed fans quickly noticed. (ICYMI: Swift has been wearing Louboutin shoes all throughout her Eras Tour.)

By our count, that's a necklace, a bag, and boots, which brings us to a total of three 87s (not counting pairs) but some very fancy 87s indeed. If you thought the Travis Kelce references stopped there, you'd be wrong. Swift then incorporated some Chiefs red via ruby rings and necklaces, including Retrouvai's Magna Ring, plus the Heart Twist Earring from The Last Line.

The musician now has a whole pile of accessories from her game day looks, including the custom "TNT" diamond beaded bracelets that Kelce purchased for himself and his girlfriend, a sweet reference to the friendship bracelet that started it all. Now that football season is over, what's next for Swift and Kelce? Maybe a different kind of ring? Who knows, but we will be paying attention.
