Patrik Stefan, you have company.

During Friday’s Champions Hockey League action between Sweden’s Frolunda and the awesomely named German side Grizzlys Wolfsburg, we were given an all-time blooper.

With Frolunda leading 2-1 and less than a minute to play in the third period, forward Carl Grundstrom, a 2016 second-round pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs, picked up a loose puck and squeaked past a defender in the Wolfsburg zone with an empty net in front of him.

The rest, well, did not go as planned.

Fortunately for Grundstrom and Frolunda, the play itself didn’t go the full Stefan and they held on for a 2-1 win in the opening game of group play.

Hopefully Grundstrom is pals with Johan Ryno, another victim of a missed empty net opportunity, so the two can talk it out.
