Stefan Struve vs. Jared Rosholt Added to UFC 193 Stadium Show in Melbourne

Stefan Struve Out of UFC Fight Night Heavyweight Headliner

The Ultimate Fighting Championship's debut event in Melbourne, Australia, is getting bigger and bigger by the day… both figuratively and literally.

On Thursday, UFC officials announced the addition of a heavyweight bout pitting Stefan Struve (26-7) against Jared Roshalt (13-2) to the UFC 193 fight card, which will take place at Ethiad Stadium on Nov. 14. The venue has the potential to hold an audience of 70,000-plus, which should be more than big enough for the tallest fighter in the UFC in the seven-foot-tall Struve.

One of the fastest rising stars in the heavyweight division prior to being knocked out by Mark Hunt, Struve has faced a difficult couple of years. After the defeat to Hunt in early 2013, doctors discovered the Dutch fighter suffered from a bicuspid aortic valve, which means that his aortic valve only has two leaflets, instead of the normal three.

It was initially believed that Struve would likely never fight again, but after time and treatment, he eventually worked his way back to the Octagon. His first comeback fight, in July of 2014, was scrapped when he fainted backstage, but he made it to the cage in December of 2014, only to get knocked out by Alistair Overeem.

Despite the setback, Struve recently returned to his winning ways, defeating one of his idols, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, at UFC 190 on the Brazilian fighter's home turf in Rio de Janeiro. He'll look to build some momentum when he faces fellow heavyweight up-and-comer Rosholt in Australia.

Rosholt found immediate success in the Octagon upon his arrival, winning his first three UFC fights before stumbling against Oleksiy Oliynyk in late 2014. He bounced back earlier this year though, stopping Josh Copeland in March and winning a unanimous decision over Timothy Johnson in early August.

Struve, however, would represent the most important victory on his resume to date.

UFC 193 is headlined by a welterweight title fight between current champion Robbie Lawler and challenger Carlos Condit.
