Steelers pick up fifth-year option for Cam Heyward

The Pittsburgh Steelers have picked up the fifth-year option for defensive end Cameron Heyward through the 2015 season, their 2011 first-round draft pick.

This secures Heyward for a fifth season.

The Steelers exercised the option prior to a May 3 NFL deadline.

Drafted 31st overall out of Ohio State, Heyward is due a $7.5 million salary.

In 13 starts last season, Heyward recorded 63 tackles, five sacks, five passes defensed, and 31 pressures.
