Stanley Cup matchup pits The Office stars against each other

Move over, Roy. There’s a new storyline threatening to come between Jim and Pam.

The Stanley Cup Final matchup is set, as the Boston Bruins and St. Louis Blues will battle for the greatest trophy in sports.

It isn’t easy to draw that many pre-series storylines that colour this a rivalry unless you’re an especially astute fan of The Office.

Shortly after the Blues punched their ticket to the Cup Final, John Krasinski, who played “Jim Halpert” on the NBC sitcom The Office, tweeted out a photo of co-star Jenna Fischer, who played Halpert’s TV wife Pam Beesly, in a Blues jersey.

Krasinski, who was raised in Newton, Mass., is a Bruins fan, a point he made clear with a follow-up tweet juxtaposing himself in B’s gear beside Fischer — a St. Louis native — in her Blues jersey.

After all they’ve been through, is this actually how it ends for Jim and Pam? With all the rumours of a show revival (the reliability of which varies greatly), it certainly seems like there is an easy storyline available to start writing a new season around.

No matter what happens, both teams can take some advice from boss Michael Scott: “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. - Wayne Gretzky.”

The series begins Monday night in Boston.
