St. Louis Blues had fantastic reactions to seeing Stanley Cup rings for first time

Who truly thought this day would come?

After finding themselves in the NHL basement in early January, the St. Louis Blues went on a miraculous run that ended with them hoisting the Stanley Cup in the middle of June.

On Monday night, the squad received the rings that will commemorate their journey to NHL supremacy for the rest of time. And while unveilings like this literally happen every single year, the reactions of some of the players (especially that of defenceman Vince Dunn) were incredible.

“Ice! Ice!” said the former Niagara IceDog upon seeing the diamonds on his Cup ring. “Oh my god...”

Teammates Robby Fabbri, Zach Sanford and Samuel Blais were also pretty happy about their new bling.

“Oh my boulder,” one of them added near the end of the video.

According to a release from the St. Louis Blues and Jostens — the company that designed and created the rings — each piece features “a total of 282 diamonds, 20 princess-cut sapphires,16 custom-cut blue sapphires and 15 round sapphires for an impressive precious stone carat weight total of 10.6 carats.”

Among the many jaw-dropping features of each unique ring are the recipient’s name, the jersey number they wore (set in diamonds, of course), the name “LAILA” engraved along the interior of the palm and the words “PLAY GLORIA” on the palm crest.

To the surprise of nobody, the team was more than happy to show these pieces of art off for all to see.

With the vast majority of the Cup-winning team back for the 2019-20 campaign, the Blues will attempt to become the first back-to-back Stanley Cup champions since the Pittsburgh Penguins (2016 and 2017) when they kick off their season against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night.
