Sources: Jimmy Butler's wrist injury confirmed as a sprain; he'll miss Saturday night's game

Philadelphia 76ers forward Jimmy Butler underwent further examination on his injured right wrist Friday, which confirmed a sprain, and he will miss Saturday night’s game in Denver, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Butler received the confirmation after visiting a hand specialist in Los Angeles to evaluate the extent of the injury, which was previously considered a sprain.

He is expected to return Tuesday in Los Angeles against the Lakers, sources said.

The injury is on the same hand on which he had surgery last summer.

Butler injured his wrist last Saturday in a loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder and hasn’t played since.

The four-time All-Star is averaging 19.6 points and 4.9 rebounds and shooting 47.4 percent from the field and 38.3 percent from 3-point range this season.
