Sources: Eric Musselman reaches agreement to coach Nevada-Reno

Eric Musselman – an LSU assistant and a two-time NBA head coach – has reached an agreement in principle to become head basketball coach at the University of Nevada-Reno, sources told Yahoo Sports.

The university's Board of Regents will meet Thursday to finalize Musselman's candidacy, sources said.

Musselman, 50, interviewed for the Nevada-Reno job on Monday.

Musselman was the head coach of the Golden State Warriors (2002-04) and the Sacramento Kings (2006-07) and complied a 108-138 record. He has since had successful head coaching stops in the NBA Development League before assistant coaching jobs at Arizona State and LSU.

David Carter was fired by the university March 11 after a 9-22 season.
