Free-agent guard D.J. Augustin has reached agreement on a two-year, $6 million contract with the Detroit Pistons, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Augustin will give Detroit point guard Brandon Jennings a backup, and should give the Pistons another capable scorer and passer to play alongside of him.

Augustin had a revival with the Chicago Bulls a year ago, playing an immense part in resurrecting their season after the loss of Derrick Rose. Augustin, 26, averaged 14.9 points and five assists per game for Chicago after the Toronto Raptors released him.

Augustin was the 10th overall pick to Charlotte in 2008 and played four seasons there. He also spent a season in Indiana.
