Sorry Sooners, Notre Dame DL Jay Hayes is now going to Georgia
Apparently Jay Hayes was not officially an Oklahoma Sooner after all.
The Notre Dame graduate transfer defensive lineman said in a now-deleted tweet on April 15 that he was officially a member of Oklahoma’s football team in 2018. That’s not happening. Hayes is now transferring to Georgia. We think. He could change his mind again.
This is it! In a month I’ll be heading down to Athens to play for the Georgia Bulldogs. Go DAWGS! ⚫️⛓
— Jay Hayes (@JayHayesNY) April 25, 2018
Hayes will be some much-needed depth for the Bulldogs. He started all 13 of Notre Dame’s games in 2017 and had 27 tackles. He told Georgia’s 247 sports site that he picked the national runners-up because he wanted to play in the SEC. As you know, Oklahoma is in the Big 12.
Hayes committed to Georgia after visiting Athens on Saturday.
