SLO County girl seriously injured when she was hit by a car while walking her dog

A Gofundme account is raising money for Addyson Nixon, 15, of Templeton, who was badly injured when she was hit by a car on May 25, 2023.

A Templeton teenager has been hospitalized at a trauma center after she was hit by a car and seriously injured Thursday evening.

Addyson Nixon, 15, was walking her dog south across Las Tablas Road from Hawley Street when she was hit by a 2018 Nissan, according the the California Highway Patrol and a Gofundme page set up for the teen.

The driver, Janet Brown, 38, of Templeton was uninjured and there were no other passengers in the car, the CHP news release said.

Alcohol and drugs were not a factor in this collision according to CHP. Templeton CHP is investigating the incident, with no new additional details as of Saturday.

Nixon was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo “to be further evaluated by medical professionals,” the CHP said. She was then flown to a children’s trauma center, according to the Gofundme page.

Teen ‘doing well’ after suffering multiple injuries in collision

The Gofundme page said she suffered fractures to her neck and hip, along with bleeding/swelling to her brain, but that she was stable on Saturday.

As of 3 p.m. Saturday, the family has received more than $60,000 in donations, with a goal of $75,000.

“Addyson is doing well,” the Gofundme page said in an update on Saturday. “Her and mom got a good amount of sleep last night. She has some nerve pain which is to be expected but nothing has come up that was unpredicted by doctors.”

“Addyson has a very long road to recovery but we are seeing positive results from tests they are running,” the page said. “(Her mother) would like to express her immense gratitude for the generosity of friends, family and community. “

Comments of support have flooded in online, with community members sending their thoughts and prayers.

Jack’s Grill in Templeton will be donating all of Wednesday’s profits to help with Nixon’s medical care, the restaurant announced on Facebook.
