Step 1: Wash and cleanse your face

It is essential to prep the skin for an effective cleanup. For this you need to use a mild cleanser or face-wash to remove all the dirt and oil clogging the pores. Use lukewarm water for best results and gently pat the face with a clean towel once done.

Step 2: Scrub away the dead cells

To get rid of all the dead skin cells, a gentle exfoliating scrub is a must. If you have dry or sensitive skin, make sure to avoid scrubs with harsh exfoliating beads. If your skin is oily, then scrubs with exfoliating beads are more effective. You can also use natural ingredients like sugar and honey to scrub the dead skin cells away.

Step 3: Steaming

The next step is to open up the pores and improve the skin’s circulation. Try a simple steaming routine using an electric steaming device. Remember to steam only for around 5 minutes.

Step 4: Tone the skin

Astringent properties of a skin toner cool and soothe the skin and reduce the appearance of open pores. After the steaming process, this step is vital to tighten pores. Avoid toners with alcohol as it leaves the skin feeling dry.

Step 5: Apply a face mask

Gently apply your chosen face mask with a brush or applicator. Clay masks are good for oily skin while masks containing hydrating ingredients like honey, papaya and rosewater are better suited for dry skin. After 15 minutes, wash the face pack with lukewarm water.

Step 6: Moisturise

Finally, finish your skincare routine with a good moisturiser. If you have oily skin, choose water-based or gel-based creams. For dry skin, opt for moisturisers with different oils. Apply the moisturiser in circular motions, rubbing upwards.
