Simon Cowell has “taken some steps” as he continues to recover from breaking his back, his close friend Sinitta has revealed.

The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent mogul underwent surgery in August following a fall from an electric trail bike, but according to So Macho singer Sinitta he has been back on his feet.

Speaking to Entertainment Daily, she said: “He’s taken some steps, so he has reassured himself that he’s not paralysed. But he’s got to take his time and get well.”

She admitted it was terrifying hearing that the TV supremo had hurt himself.

“It was a serious accident,” she told Entertainment Daily. “So for people who love him, like me, it was very, very scary.”

Cowell, 60, underwent six hours of surgery after injuring himself while testing out the new bike at his Malibu home.

The father-of-one later joked about his accident in a post on Twitter.

"Some good advice... If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time,” tweeted the star.

“I have broken part of my back.”

“Thank you to everyone for your kind messages,” he added.

“And a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors. Some of the nicest people I have ever met.”

Diversity dancer Ashley Banjo has been filling in for Cowell on Britain’s Got Talent, while his seat on the America’s Got Talent judging panel has been taken by guest judges including Kelly Clarkson.
