From New Covent Garden Market near Vauxhall and gorgeous Kew Garden, to culty Columbia Road on the other side of the city, London is a place that adores her blooms.

Florists have been hit hard by the pandemic, especially independent businesses who rely on passing trade, corporate contracts and events like weddings and funerals for business.

That’s why Evening Standard has launched Shop London, a campaign to boost the business and support local businesses. And, among the artisan vendors and small batch producers, you will find a coterie of fabulous florists.

From bountiful bouquets to resplendent Christmas wreaths, there are plenty of petal purveyors to swoon over.

Here’s the best of the bunch.

My Lady Garden Christmas Centrepiece

Blow your bubble out of the water with this OTT Christmas centrepiece from the superbly named florist, My Lady Garden. The statement design mixes traditional festive foliage like ilex berries, roses and pine with exotic anthuriums and anemones. It’s edgy, it’s cool, it’s made in East London. We love.

Stems Wilder Bleached Ruscus

Dried flowers are really taking off, and alongside wreaths and fresh arrangements, Stems Wilder’s dried bloom offering is something to behold. This bunch of white bleached ruscus comes in a set of five stems and will last way longer than a normal bunch.

With a sustainable approach to floristry, Stems Wilder has removed any non-biodegradable plastic wrappings and foam blocks from its creations. The brand also opts for local growers, and seasonal flowers and uses them to create unconventional arrangements.

Fiona Fleur Elle Woods

Offering online workshops, Christmas wreaths and an array of dried florals, ex-PR Fiona Fleur is flourishing in her new creative pursuit. Specialising in the art of dried flowers - which are robust, last a lot longer and go perfect with the rattan interiors trend - prices start from just £13 for a charmingly named Moonbeam Snowflake creation. We like the Elle Woods bunch best: just like Legally Blonde’s protagonist, she’s a head-turner.
