Sharon Stone recently hit a bump in the road in her search for romance after being blocked from dating app Bumble.

The 61-year-old actor voiced her disappointment at her profile being shut down after users believed it was a fake profile of the star.

She said on Twitter: "I went on the @bumble dating sight [sic] and they closed my account. Some users reported that it couldn’t possibly be me! Hey @bumble, is being me exclusionary ? Don’t shut me out of the hive."

The Basic Instinct star went on to post a screenshot of the app that showed her as blocked along with a message that said Bumble had "received several reports" claiming the account was fake.

Clare O'Connor, editorial director of Bumble, later contacted Stone on Twitter on behalf of the customer service team to inform her the account had been reinstated.

She replied to Stone's original tweet: "AHA! @sharonstone, we at @bumble found your account, unblocked you, and ensured this won't happen again. You can get back to Bumbling! Thanks for bearing with us and hope you find your honey."

Meanwhile, a Bumble representative said: “Sharon Stone is back on Bumble! Our apologies for the confusion as we’re so honoured that Ms. Stone wants to be a part of the Hive. However, being the icon that she is, we can understand how so many of our users felt it was too good to be true once they noticed her profile wasn’t photo verified.

“Photo verification is just one of the many ways to connect with confidence on Bumble. In light of our mixup with Sharon Stone, we’d like to extend an invitation for her to come to Austin and allow us to host her at the hive for a few hours of profile prep and great food!”

While Stone is currently single, she has previously been married twice before, wedding her first husband, producer Michael Greenburg, in 1984.

The pair split three years later, with their divorce eventually finalised in 1990.

Her second marriage was to journalist Phil Bronstein in 1998. It lasted until 2004, when their divorce was finalised.

Stone adopted a baby boy with Bronstein, Roan Joseph Bronstein, in 2000 before going on to adopt two boys on her own, Laird Vonne in 2005 and Quinn Kelly Stone in 2006.
