Selena Gomez Makes Her VMAs Return in a Stunning Red Floral Gown

Selena Gomez made a rare red-carpet appearance at tonight's MTV Video Music Awards in celebration of her three nominations—and she looked absolutely stunning while doing it.

The pop star made an entrance at New Jersey's Prudential Center in a glamorous spring gown by Oscar de la Renta. The bold piece is composed entirely of flower-shaped appliqués that fall into a fringe train that swishes romantically as she walks, and includes a plunging balconette bra neckline and a high leg slit. Gomez let the gown do the talking, pairing it only with strappy red sandals, white diamond floral earrings, and a matching diamond floral ring.

For her glam, the hitmaker opted for a slicked-down straight 'do, a bronze smoky eye, and rosy makeup. Makeup artist Hung Vanngo shared a backstage video of her look on Instagram, and she shared a snap of herself en route to the event on her Instagram Story.

Gomez's appearance tonight marks the first time she's attended the VMAs since 2015. In recent years, she has opted to skip the awards show, most likely because she did not receive many nominations. Since then, she has released plenty of new music, including her latest summer hit, “Single Soon.” And, she recently revealed to fans on Instagram, she is getting ready to drop her next album.

Tonight, Gomez is up for an award in the categories of Best Song, Best Collaboration, and Best Afrobeats, all for her and Rema’s viral track “Calm Down.” For song of the year, she is up against Miley Cyrus's “Flowers,” Olivia Rodrigo's “Vampire,” Sam Smith and Kim Petras's “Unholy,” Steve Lacy's “Bad Habit,” SZA's “Kill Bill,” and best friend Taylor Swift's “Anti-Hero.”
