See How Juan Soto Celebrated His Record-Breaking $765-Million Contract with the Mets — in a Hot Tub!
The MLB star's brother gave fans an inside look at how Soto celebrated signing the largest contract in sports history
Juan Soto's epic new contract deserved an equally epic celebration.
After ESPN insider Jeff Passan reported on Dec. 8 that the 26-year-old MLB star agreed to a 15-year deal for a whopping $765 million with the New York Mets, Soto's brother gave fans an inside look at how he celebrated with friends.
In an Instagram Story uploaded later that evening, Elian Soto filmed his unsuspecting brother, who was in a hot tub at the time, as Soto was doused by friends with a liquid that appeared to be alcohol.
The guys cheered and laughed as they poured the bottle over the new Mets star, who looked excited to be sharing the big moment with his friends and family.
"GOT HIS ASS," Elian wrote over the video with three laughing emojis and a Mets gif, adding, "METS BABYYYYY."

Soto's new contract with the Mets is the largest deal in professional sports history, according to ESPN's Passan, and includes no deferred money. The deal "has escalators that can reach above $800 million," sources told Passan.
NBA star Donovan Mitchell, a longtime Mets fan whose father worked for the organization, personally called Soto to congratulate him and share in the excitement.
"LFFFGGGMMMMMM," Mitchell, 28, wrote in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) with a screenshot from the FaceTime call with Soto after the contract was announced.

"Great day to be a Mets fan," one user wrote on X when reacting to the news.
Others, however, are calling the 15-year deal a mistake for the Mets. "$34,979 per inning. This isn’t just a contract — it’s a statement," one user said.
Another fan said the contract "might be the biggest overpay in the history of sports."

And Yankees fans, who had been cheering for Soto since he joined the team on a 1-year deal in 2024 and were hoping he'd return to their team, are expressing their disappointment after he switched to their crosstown rivals.

"Not gonna lie, this one hurts as a long time Yankees fan," one fan wrote, adding, "I'm not mad at him for chasing the bag but he and the Yanks were a perfect match."
But other Yankee fans are relieved that their favorite team didn't spend so much on Soto after seeing how much he'll make at the Mets. "I’m a Yankee fan and love Soto, I’m so glad we didn’t get him at that price," one Yankee fan said.
The next MLB season will kick off with Opening Day on March 27.
