Scottie Barnes, Evan Mobley lead 2022 NBA All-Rookie teams
The NBA saw a strong rookie class take the court this season, and it shows with just how deep the league's All-Rookie selections run.
Toronto Raptors wing Scottie Barnes and Cleveland Cavaliers big man Evan Mobley, the top-two finishers in the NBA Rookie of the Year race, led the All-Rookie first team announced Wednesday on TNT, not a surprise given their difference-making play in Year 1.
Barnes took home Rookie of the Year honors after doing just about everything for a resurgent Raptors team, while Mobley looked like the future of the NBA on defense and might have beat out Barnes had it not been for an ankle injury that caused him to miss the final five games of the season.
Also on the first team was 2021 first overall pick Cade Cunningham, who took a while to get going but eventually posted numbers in March not seen by a rookie outside of Michael Jordan and Oscar Robertson.
All three of Barnes, Mobley and Cunningham were unanimous first-team selections.
Rounding out the team were Orlando Magic wing Franz Wagner, who led all rookies in scoring, and Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green, who immediately showed himself to be a bucket after going second overall.
New Orleans Pelicans forward Herb Jones, who deserved All-Defensive consideration after a breakout season, led the second team after just missing out on first-team honors.
