Alexis Saelemaekers is slowly getting up to speed following two months of recovery from a fractured ankle.

The Belgian winger has been unavailable since matchday four, when he went down injured in the match against Genoa.

Since then, the player has been forced to proceed with his recovery in the hope of returning to the pitch before the end of the year.

According to Corriere dello Sport, next week, the surgeon who operated on him in Belgium will speak to Roma’s medical staff after reviewing the images from an MRI scan of his ankle.

It is unlikely that Saelemaekers will be called up for Claudio Ranieri’s debut in Naples. It may take a few more days.
