Russell Wilson will have live-in physical therapist, middle-of-night treatment on knee

Hope Ciara is ready for a new roommate.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has a pretty extensive plan to rehab his sprained MCL, and it involved a live-in physical therapist. Drew Morcos has been working with Wilson for the past two years, per ESPN.com, and flown in on a need basis to help Wilson come back from myriad injuries, such as the high-ankle sprain Wilson suffered in Week 1.

Now Morcos is moving in for the time being. No word if this was approved by Wilson’s new wife ahead of time.

“I saw it and played it in slow motion with the TV and extra slow motion just so I could see exactly what was going on,” Morcos said. “Kind of had a good idea of what it was going to be, just a matter of the severity of it. Right after I saw it, I got contacted by his people, and I started packing up.”

He’ll be there all week, it appears. Wilson is having his left knee worked on ahead of the Week 4 game at the New York Jets, and though all indications are that Wilson will be able to play, it’s clearly an injury that’s requiring some extra work.

Morcos’ rehab plan for Wilson apparently includes some middle-of-the-night treatment, too. Better set your alarm, Russ. Of course, he said he slept a mere six hours after the ankle injury in the week leading up to the loss to the Los Angeles Rams. It might not be that big a deal for him.

“We do stuff all through the day, through the night just to really help the healing process,” Morcos said. “We only have a week between games. If this was just another person who was able to miss a couple weeks, the night treatments and all that wouldn’t be so necessary.”

What one of Wilson’s personal trainers, Ryan Flaherty, noticed when he watched the injury occur, and having worked since with Wilson, is that the quarterback is very lucky to even think about playing Sunday.

“I think it was somewhat of a miracle he didn’t tear his MCL,” Flaherty said. “I don’t think I’ve seen someone — the angles that come out of something like that with only a sprain, I think even the doctors were amazed that he didn’t tear it.”

Hence the extreme measures that must be taken to stabilize and stretch the knee. Wilson clearly needs this, and his wife appears to be a very understanding woman for him to go through all this.
