Russell Wilson wanted to make sure Carson Wentz was OK immediately after Seahawks' playoff win

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson had one thing on his mind following his team’s 17-9 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. It wasn’t how he would celebrate the win or who the Seahawks were playing next, it was Carson Wentz’s health.

Immediately after shaking hands with Eagles coach Doug Pederson at midfield, Wilson asked Pederson if Wentz was OK.

The 27-year-old Wentz left Sunday’s game in the first quarter after taking a brutal hit to the head. Wentz was unable to return to the contest. Josh McCown took over as the Eagles’ quarterback the rest of the way.

Wentz has dealt with a number of injuries over his four-year career. He missed the Eagles’ Super Bowl run in 2017 after tearing his ACL, was limited to 11 games in 2018 due to a back injury and left Sunday’s game with a head injury. Wilson likely had Wentz’s injury history on his mind when he asked Pederson if Wentz was alright.

Wentz did not speak publicly following the Eagles’ loss, but gave an update on his status Monday.

Wentz said he is doing much better, and is upset he wasn’t able to finish the game.

After a disappointing end to the season, Wentz will work to take the Eagles back to the playoffs in 2020. Now that he knows Wentz is OK, Wilson can focus on trying to take down the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round.
