The Rush: No World Cup deprives U.S. fans of world’s best party

When the U.S. Men’s National Team failed to qualify for the World Cup, it not only bruised the nation’s sports ego, but it deprived Americans of celebrating in the world’s biggest party.

Nobody on the planet is having more fun than World Cup soccer fans, as the beautiful game has put a spell of pure ecstasy upon citizens of both winning and losing nations alike. Videos of euphoric soccer fans are flooding the internet proving that there’s there’s no need to plan that trip to Ibiza if your team makes the Cup.

A bit less ecstatic is former Red Sox first baseman Hanley Ramirez. In a classic case of “who needs enemies with friends like these,” Ramirez found himself in a pickle when a pal of his name-dropped Ramirez during a traffic stop…where police found a big ol’box of drugs.

This so-called friend even went as far as FaceTiming Ramirez while with the police, asking Ramirez to confirm that he was indeed the intended recipient of the box (full of the opioid Fentanyl). As you can imagine, Hanley don’t play that, telling the cops he didn’t know what his friend was talking about. According to a statement from Ramirez’s attorney, he’s not under federal investigation in connection with the incident.
